Meet Kerilyn – A Chef, a Wife and a Child

For my next guest in the series, a Chef, a Wife and a Child, I’d like you to meet Kerilyn Russo.  I’m sure many of you are familiar with her site MarriedToAChef.com.  She and her husband have a new little one and I’m so happy she was willing to share with us about life as a mom AND being married to a chef.10178018_10154061716515375_1087330879124237005_n

Tell me a little about yourself and your spouse. (Please include how long you have been married and what your job is (in addition to being a wife and mom.)

Hi there! Thanks Jennifer for inviting me to share my thoughts here! My name is Kerilyn Russo. (Pronounced like two words Keri Lyn) I am an almost 40 yr old (and loving it!) Highly Sensitive New Years Eve baby, a chatty Cathy, fellow chef wife (married 5 years on 9/26 – See our wedding story here!) We have lived in the Washington D.C/VA area since 1999, until recently when we made a HUGE move South to Savannah, GA just a few months ago, in May 2014. *I went to Art School in Savannah and fell in love with the South!* I am the creator and resident life coach of Married to a Chef, like Jennifer, it is my mission to support our fellow significant others to remember that they are NOT alone! As a Life Coach, my clients are significant others who are ready to release the feelings of loneliness and resentment and ready to create the life of their dreams! I believe we all have what it takes to thrive in our restaurant relationships, it just takes some understanding and a willingness to do the work to make it work for us. (more…)

A Day in the Life of a Chef Wife – August 2014

Every month on the 10th day, I grab my camera and capture my day with 10 pictures.

Today was not my typical day.  Why?  Because my husband was off!  Woohoo!!  We were able to spend the day together as a family and he’s actually in a few of the pictures this month!  AMAZING!!

Our morning started off a bit different.  We woke up and it was just my chef/husband and I in the house!  The girls spent the night at my aunt’s house so we could go out on a date last night.  (A Saturday night . . . that was strange . . . new job . . . hmmmm.)  So morning coffee in a quiet house.  How lovely!

You Know Your Dad’s a Chef When . . . Part 3

To all my children’s friends and their parents (current and future), please consider this a warning and an apology.

You know your Dad’s a chef when. . . you use dish towels to wipe up everything in the kitchen.

Emulsified Family

I jokingly wrote a while back that I can hardly remember using cute dish towels since I’m married to a chef.  I gave up on them a long time ago since my husband uses them for EVERYTHING in the kitchen.  We use white flour sack dish towels because they are cheap and we can bleach them.  We go through a few each day (unless my chef/husband is home cooking and then we go through most of them in the drawer.) Meet Alisa – A Chef, a Wife and a Child

I’m so excited to move on in this series and introduce you to other chef wives who are willing to share their stories with us about what it’s like having a child with a chef.

I’ve asked them all the same 5 questions and hope that you’ll be encouraged by what they share.
