My name is Jennifer and I have been married to a chef for 25 years.

I blog about my life as a chef wife and how we combine restaurant and family life each day.

There are certain things my chef/husband does that I find strange. (Strange meaning it would never occur to me to do this, but now I do it too because of him.) I’ve written about some of them in the past.

Days of Emulsified Family . . . sounds like the name of a soap opera . . . Do you ever feel like you are living in one?

Wikipedia defines a soap opera as, “A serial drama and suspense on television or radio which features related story lines about the lives of multiple characters. The stories typically focus on emotional relationships to the point of melodrama.” (more…)

What's Up Wednesday - A Day in the Life of a Chef Wife

Today, I’m linking up with a few other blogs over on The Hallway, (a lifestyle blog written by fellow chef wife Shannon Hall).  It’s just a fun way to get to know others and to let our readers know a bit more about us.

So here’s a bit about what’s been going on in the life of this chef wife lately:

What I loved about the past week:

My chef/husband being around more to help with the kids.  That might not seem like a big deal to many, but it was a rough week and it was really helpful to have him home a few evenings for support!  It was nice to not feel like I was parenting alone!  (Sigh of relief!!) read more…

How to Have a Successful Career and be Married to a Chef – Part 4

As I continue to think about this topic of having a successful career and being married to a chef, I’ve come to realize that there are definitely some careers better suited for this than others (especially if you have kids.)

Here’s what one chef wife said on Facebook about one of my recent posts.

“I used to have a successful career.  Then I had kids and they were more important. Now I seem to have a career again, but one that fits with the kids being home.”

I love that!  So to conclude this series, I want to introduce you to Alyson, another chef wife whom I have had the pleasure of getting to know a little over the past few months.  She is the author of the comment above and has found a career that fits perfectly with her chef/husband and family.

What is this magical career, you ask?  It’s blogging.  Alyson is the author of World Family Travel Blog. read more…

It’s Time for a Giveaway

Giveaway, giveaway, giveaway . . . everyone says I should have a giveaway on my blog.  But what in the world do you offer a group of chefs, their spouses or significant others and some of my AMAZING friends who just read my blog because they love me?

A cookbook or secret recipe? (Because we need another one of those like we need a hole in the head.)

A crock pot? (Because we all need MORE things in our kitchen)

A knife? (That might actually be OK, since many of our chefs keep their best knives at work.)

As I thought about those suggestions from others, none of them seemed like the perfect giveaway.

But you know what is? read more…
