Another month has come and gone. My chef/husband survived Thanksgiving at the restaurant, the girls and I celebrated with friends and we were able to enjoy our Thanksgiving together as a family on Friday.
Like every month, I’ve collected a few of my favorite things I’ve found online that have to do with either being married to a chef, chef life or having a family with a chef. I hope you’ll enjoy them as much as I did!
- Apparently there is a secret list of banned words that you should NEVER use when writing about food. I wonder if they apply when I am just talking about food with my chef/husband? (Just kidding.)
- In this post, a CIA student writes about 10 of the most important things he learned in cooking school. Funny, I can relate to many of them as a chef’s wife.
- One chef writes about how he is more than just a chef, but a father, brother, etc. I loved this!
- I’m celebrating with fellow chef wife Kari (Chef and Steward) and her chef/husband on his recent award! Woohoo!! Congratulations!
- I had the privilege of watching my chef/husband do a cooking demonstration this month. I learned you can put saran wrap in the oven if all of it’s surfaces are covered with foil. CRAZY!! I almost fell out of my chair when he said that! I never knew that.
- I found this fun blog post from another chef’s wife who lists the best things about being married to a chef.
- A Michelin starred French chef’s wife wrote a post this week about what it’s really like to be married to a chef. I always love finding new blog posts about this. All over the world, the story is the same. The assumptions people make about our life is the same. They don’t cook for us every night people! 🙂
This month, I took some time by myself while the girls were at school to read Wife of the Chef by Courtney Febbroriello. It was a fun read and I found myself laughing as I could relate to a few things. However, it was really more about opening a restaurant with a chef than being married to a chef. I’m glad I read it, but I’m still looking for a book written by a chef’s wife who doesn’t work in the restaurant with him. Guess I’ll just have to write one myself one day. (You can read Kerilyn Russo’s interview of Courtney Febbroriello here.)
- Starting tomorrow, you won’t want to miss the series 12 Days of Encouragement for the Chef’s Family. Let’s get through the holidays together!
That’s it for this month.
Did you find any good blog posts, articles or pins on Pinterest that you think others would like to read? Feel free to share them below!
From one chef’s wife to another,
Thanks for thinking of us and sharing the love Jennifer. You know all too well that for us chef families, any success of the chef is a success for the entire family that supports him or her. This is a really cool round-up post by the way!
Cant wait for you to fly to Dubai!
It sure is! 🙂 Glad you liked the round-up post!
That would be so fun to hop on a plane (just my husband and I) and come there!! Maybe one day. . .
Great List!! thanks for sharing 🙂
