I just placed an order for some new chef pants for my husband and chuckled to myself as I remember a conversation between my chef/husband and one of our girls recently.
She was asking about the clothes he wears to work every day.
It started off with the question we all ask ourselves as we are washing chef coats!
“Why do chefs wear white chef coats when they are around food all the time?”
Brilliant! I know!! Even at only 9 years old she realizes this is not the greatest idea. (Although I do understand why, it’s just annoying when you have to get stains out of them all the time.)
Then they moved on to talking about the chef pants.
Nothing important really. This was just one of many little conversations she was having with Daddy before he walked out the door to go to work.
What struck me as funny was the end of the conversation.
My chef/husband ended it with “It’s like I get to wear pajamas to work every day.”
Well, OK. Now we know. Next time I need some lounge around the house pants, I’ll just give Chefwear a call instead of heading into Eddie Bauer. I guess they are that comfortable!
(The only time I’ve personally worn a pair was for Halloween when I was 38 weeks pregnant. I needed a costume that would fit, so I was a chef. Nothing is comfortable when you are 38 weeks pregnant, so I’ll have to take his word for it that the pants are comfortable.)
If he has to wear something for that long and work in a really hot environment, at least he’s comfortable, right?
I’m not sure why I found this so funny . . . maybe I need to get out more.
Does anyone else have funny conversations around their house like this? Perhaps I’m the only one, but I doubt it.
