A Day in the Life of a Chef’s Wife – May 2014

Tags: ,

10 on 10. . . A friend has challenged me to pick up my camera on the 10th day of every month and take 10 pictures, a picture every hour (approx.), to document the day.

So below is a quick glimpse into our day as a family of a chef.  I say that because you’ll notice my chef/husband is only in one of these pictures, and it’s the picture of him on my cell phone.  🙁  It’s the day before Mother’s Day.  He left around 6:30am this morning and still is not home as I write this (10:45pm).  Lovely!  Hopefully he’s on his way home soon!

Philippians 4:6

I struggle with worrying so I decided to have my friend Jen over at Rustic Pine Designs make Philippians 4:6 into a sign to put up in our living room.  As I sat in my favorite chair this morning, they were right in front of me.  What a great reminder that no matter what comes my way, I have no reason to be anxious but just need to take it to God in prayer.  Perfect way to start off the morning.

yogurt and granola

I am so in love with homemade honey yogurt right now.  Again, I blame this on my chef/husband and his extensive research on making yogurt last year for a cooking video.  I can’t seem to get enough of it.  This was breakfast this morning, homemade honey yogurt with granola and strawberries, in a mason jar of course.

workout class

Off to workout class. . . the blonde in green in the front is the main reason I can eat pretty much whatever I want.  I blame her for how sore I’m going to feel in the morning.  🙂  My friends are going to just love that I posted a picture of us sporting our no-makeup, non-showered look.

chores

Time for some housework.  Who wants to look at a messy house on Mother’s Day?  Not me!  I can’t relax when things are a mess!

playingSomething needed to be fixed with a drill and a wrench.  I’m not sure what, but apparently she fixed it and is now putting the tools away.

phone call from a chef

Yes, I took a picture of my cell phone ringing.  My handsome chef/husband’s picture with him in his chef coat appears each time he calls.  This is how I saw him today.  It’s the day before Mother’s Day . . . large fine dining restaurant . . . 400 reservations for dinner . . . 100 person catering event . . . 1,300+ reservations for all day buffet tomorrow . . . enough said . . . fun . . . I miss him!

Mother's Day

One of many, “Mom, don’t look!” moments from the day.  There were a lot of “secret” plans being made for Mother’s Day.

coffee cake

For dinner I turned leftover coffee cake into coffee cake french toast.  Oh my goodness, it was AMAZING!!  It’s always breakfast for dinner each Saturday night here in our home.  It’s a guaranteed night my chef/husband will be working and it’s fun and easy so we’ve made it a tradition to look forward to each week.

Oh wait, most nights are a guaranteed night he’s going to be working.  Maybe we should have this every night.  I’ll need to workout more . . .

flossing teeth

Walked into the bathroom to find our 4 year old flossing her doll’s teeth.

Well, that’s it for our day . . . off to bed so I can be ready for whatever “plans” my kids have made for the morning!

I love this peek into today! The Philippians verse came out AMAZING! And you give Tom all the credit for his cooking, but your food looks pretty yummy to me! 🙂

It was yummy. I think I might need a late night yogurt snack before I go to bed!
