Super Bowl Sunday (yes, I have the game on)

So what does Super Bowl Sunday look like at our house?  Not much.

I realize by saying that, some of my friends might disown me.  Living in the Seattle area has been a bit crazy the past few weeks because the Seahawks are doing so well.  My daughters’ school gathered as a group to take a picture showing their support on Blue Friday.  Seahawks flags are everywhere.  Half the population of Seattle (or more) is wearing a jersey, and every store is out of Skittles.  It’s CRAZY!!

Then there’s us.

Now before you stop and never read my blog again, I want you to know that for the first time in my entire life, I actually had the game on, but only because the Seahawks were playing. If I didn’t have it on, I would have felt like I was betraying my friends and city.  So, we turned it on.

I know most people can’t understand that and think I’m crazy.  But I didn’t grow up in a home where we watched sports on TV.  My husband enjoys playing sports, but could care less about watching them on TV.  So today, Super Bowl Sunday, my husband is working and this is one day full of social gatherings that I do not mind missing out on as a family.

So here at our home, we stayed in our jammies (only because one of the girls is sick).  I popped some popcorn when the game started and attempted to answer questions about a game I really know nothing about, except what I learned in high school PE.

It probably would have been more fun if I planned ahead and made snacks or at least had Skittles . . . or just headed up to the restaurant and hung out there with the 6 people in the bar and 8 reservations on the books.  I guess not many people think fine dining on Super Bowl Sunday, even if there are free snacks in the bar and green skittle infused vodka.

So here’s hoping for a productive admin day for the chef and an earlier commute home!  (And yes I wrote this post during the game . . . )
