Day 3 – Don’t Sit at Home (12 Days of Encouragement for the Chef’s Family)

Tags: , ,

Today I’d like to encourage you to not sit at home, wishing the Christmas season was just over so you could see your chef/husband or chef/boyfriend again. Last year, half way through the month, my chef/husband and I actually had a conversation about that.  We just wanted December to be over.  🙁

I don’t know about where you live, but here in Seattle, there are so many fun things to do at Christmas time.

I used to try and save all those things for when my chef/husband was off.  But when I did that, we ended up missing out on a lot of things.

12 days of encouragement for the chefs familySo, now, instead of missing out on things, waiting for my chef/husband to have a night off, the girls and I talk about what we want to do and plan it.  If my chef/husband happens to be off at the last minute, he joins us.  But if not, we still go Christmas caroling, enjoy Snowflake Lane, Holidays in Seattle, etc.

I wish more than anything that he could join us and many times I send him a quick text thanking him for working so hard to provide for us.  This time of year, I tend to feel guilty that he is working so long and hard to pay for all the fun things the girls and I are doing.  But he says he wouldn’t want it any other way.  (He has said this multiple times and I am so thankful for him!)

So bundle up and get out of the house today, or sometime soon.  Don’t sit at home, wishing the holiday season was over.

What kinds of things you do enjoy doing during the Christmas season, with or without your chef?

From one chef’s wife to another,

Jennifer

I agree with him. The girls shouldn’t miss out.
I created a lot of wonderful memories with Chef Baby over the years. It was always the two of us for a long time..

I know they shouldn’t. Just wish he didn’t have to as well. 🙂 Thanks!

Hi Jennifer! I recently stumbled across your blog after doing a search for “dating a chef.” My boyfriend recently opened his own restaurant after being a corporate chef in the two years I have known him (I didn’t realize how precious weekends off could be). While I fully support his career and his decision to open a restaurant, I’m finding myself a little ‘blue’ with the life change right now. I am really thankful for your blog! Merry Christmas to you and your family! And, here’s to finding our peace within the chaos! It is there, I know it is. 🙂
