A Day in the Life of a Chef Wife – April 2015

Every month on the 10th day, I grab my camera and capture my day as a chef wife with 10 pictures.  Most days my husband is not in the pictures because (big surprise) he’s at work.  This month, while he was gone for most of the day, the day still revolved around him.  It was his last day of work for his company.  (More details on that here in my newsletter last week.  If you are not signed up for those, you can do so here!) What's Up Wednesday - A Day in the Life of a Chef Wife

Today, I’m linking up with a few other blogs over on The Hallway, (a lifestyle blog written by fellow chef wife Shannon Hall).  It’s just a fun way to get to know others and to let our readers know a bit more about us.

So here’s a bit about what’s been going on in the life of this chef wife lately:

What I loved about the past week:

My chef/husband being around more to help with the kids.  That might not seem like a big deal to many, but it was a rough week and it was really helpful to have him home a few evenings for support!  It was nice to not feel like I was parenting alone!  (Sigh of relief!!) (more…)

A Day in the Life of a Chef Wife – December 2014

Every month on the 10th day, I grab my camera and capture my day with 10 pictures.

Today started off early, getting up with my chef/husband and helping him pack for a 3 day business trip to work with one of his restaurants.  Packing for a chef is easy when all you have to worry about is chef pants and coats, underwear and socks.  Wish packing for myself was that easy when I went away!

He just LOVES it when I take pictures of him, so I chose not to this month.  You’re welcome honey!

So a day in the life a chef wife during the Christmas season . . . no time with the chef.  Are you surprised?  Nope.  But we are about halfway through the month!!  Only 19 days until January 2nd.  🙂

We said goodbye around 6:30 am as he left and I went back in the house to get my day started.

Breakfast? Just kidding. Just thought it was cute.

A Day in the Life of a Chef Wife – November 2014

Every month on the 10th day, I grab my camera and capture my day with 10 pictures.

Today was one of those days.

You know, the type of day when your chef/husband is gone all day long and you really wish he was home to help with the kids (or one kid specifically).  That was my day as a chef wife.

There should be 10 pictures.  There are 7.

The reason?

We have a 5 year old.

Enough said.

A day in the life of a chef wife

My chef/husband never likes it when I take his picture as he’s walking out the door, so here’s his stuff, ready to go this morning. 🙂  Notice the new chef coat?  Woohoo!!

A Day in the Life of a Chef Wife – October 2014

Every month on the 10th day, I grab my camera and capture my day with 10 pictures.

I was debating whether or not to even post the pictures today . . . wondering if it went along with my purpose for this blog.

I write about trying to combine restaurant and family life.  (Or maybe I should say fighting to combine restaurant and family life.  It’s so hard!!)

Yet again, my chef/husband went to work early and got home late.  So he is not in any of the pictures.  🙁

So should I share my day?

I decided yes.  (Obviously.)

As a chef wife, I have a lot of time by myself (and by myself, I mean with 3 children.)  That is the reality of being married to a chef who works 60, 70, 80+ hours a week.  So if I leave this day out, I’m leaving out reality.  This is my life as a chef wife.

My chef/husband has been working from the minute he wakes up to the minute his head hits the pillow for what seems like forever.  It’s been a long stretch without much time off.

He drove away as we were walking to the bus stop this morning and said, “You’re not going to take my picture, are you?”  So no picture of him in his car driving away.

I guess we’ll start at the bus stop . . . (more…)
